Help Pave the Way for Better MobilityThe LFCL has a fleet of 2 state-of-the-art Mobility Vehicle-1 (MV-1) built in America by the Vehicle Production Group. The MV-1 was the first production-made purpose-built vehicle in North America, constructed from the ground up for people with disabilities. It seats up to six adults, with two in full-size wheelchairs. Chairs are allowed side entry via an ADA-approved ramp, able to carry 1,200 lb (544 kg) and which stows under the vehicle's floor. The vehicles are a perfect way to go places safely and in style for those in a wheelchair.

Living life to the fullest is what the ALS & MS Residences are all about. Granted, the specialized caregiving and relative independence through technology are unique, but living a fully engaged life includes getting out to visit friends and family in the community or to go to the market. The vans are available to be checked out by friends and family for personal trips and the Leonard Florence Center for Living (LFCL) also provides ample recreational opportunities to the Saling and McDonald households. Residents frequently go to the movies, the theater, or sporting events. They go to concerts, museums, and the park. The thing that helps make this possible is having the specialized transportation that is required.
